Welcome to Feng Shui Elements

"Feng Shui has been practiced in China as a formalized technique of selecting auspicious sites since the Tang dynasty. It is an ancient science that has it's roots in the Chinese way of viewing the universe where all things on earth are categorized into five basic elements and take on implications of positive or negative energy.
Feng Shui literally translated, means wind and water. It is the science of selecting living environments where the elements and energies are in harmonious balance, thereby bringing the good life to those who reside within that environment.
Feng Shui is also an art - a skill born of experience and common sense - the skill of arranging one's immediate living and work space to further strengthen this vital balance and harmony."

Flowing "Chi" is one of the most important aspects of feng shui, and insuring the vibrancy and freshness of Chi inside and outside your home or business is imperative to us all. Chi takes on Yin and Yang characteristics based on its environment, and it is important to keep a balance of "Sheng Chi" throughout your space. De-cluttering and dusting is the first step to improving the flow.
The Five Element Thoery:
You can bring powerful, life-enhancing results when correctly applying the five element theory in your space. Application of this theory and it's three cycles - productive, exhaustive and destructive - offers invaluable insight into it's remedies, energizers and cures. Too much or too little of a specific element could deplete your personal energy. The five elements are Fire, Earth, Water, Wood and Metal. Everything can be placed into one of these categories, which are represented by compass direction, colors, shapes and objects, just to name a few.
Eight Mansions:
Personalized directions are part of the Eight Mansions formula, the effect of which can be felt almost immediately. It is often used when searching for a new home, as when the house and the person (usually the breadwinner of the family) are of the same group, an affinity is formed. This affinity will bring that individual good fortune.
Flying Star Feng Shui:
Although an incredibly important aspect of Compass School Feng Shui, it is often overlooked. Flying Star is a popular method used to transform Chi energy. It is expressed as numbers on a Feng Shui natal chart. The various types of "feng Shui luck" transforms over time and are analyzed using Feng Shui formulas that deal with time periods. These formulas are referred to as Flying Star formulas. Calculations are required, as well as an understanding of numerology and the "lo shu square".
Space Clearing:
Although not considered a traditional Chinese Feng Shui application, space clearing has become an important part of contemporary feng shui work. It is a thousand year-old practice used in many cultures ranging from Native American to Balinese. It is the clearing of space on an energy level using a range of materials that seem to have evolved through the years. Just as on a physical level you see the dust and dirt accumulating in your home as a result of daily activities, the same happens on an energy level. Negative emotions, bad luck and illness are the most common reasons for a good, thorough space clearing. It is a good idea to have a space clearing done when moving into a new home to clear out the intangible clutter that lingers in the house from it's previous occupants.
